21:44 CET - With five minutes to go until half time, Fluminense have taken the lead against Al Hilal! Martinelli has scored with a stunning finish with his left foot into the top corner, and the goal couldn't have come at a better time!

21:22 CET - 20 minutes in, there is not too much worth talking about. It has been a cagey start from both teams.

21:02 CET - We are underway in the first quarter-final at the Club World Cup!

17:30 CET - After a two-day break, the Club World Cup returns with the first quarter-finals of the tournament. Up first at 21:00 CET is a meeting between two surprise packages: Al Hilal and Fluminense.

The Saudi side have impressed under new manager Simone Inzaghi, dumping out Premier League heavyweights Manchester City in a last-16 thriller. Fluminense have also shone at this tournament, beating Inter Milan in the last round to secure their spot at this stage.

That is followed at 03:00 CET by Chelsea vs Palmeiras. Enzo Maresca's blue are the heavy favourites, and it would be a big surprise to see them lose here. However, all the Brazilian sides have impressed at the Club World Cup, and it would be foolish to write Palmeiras off.

13:10 CET - Next on the agenda is a clash between two European giants, with Real Madrid and Juventus facing off in Miami.

Los Blancos have grown into their first tournament under Xabi Alonso, following up a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal with convincing wins over Pachuca and RB Salzburg, and they were especially impressive in a new-look 3-5-2 system against the Austrian side - it'll be interesting to see whether they deploy it again today.

Juventus meanwhile picked up two dominant wins before losing to Manchester City, and have scored 11 goals across their three matches.

Kick-off is at 21:00 CET.

23:03 CET - It's full-time and Fluminense have secured a win that their fans won't forget for a long time!

They defended excellently after taking an early lead and sealed the win with a real piece of quality, and their reward is a place in the quarter-finals.

For Inter, this is a fitting ending to what has been a nightmare few months for the club, with them losing the Serie A title race, the Champions League final, manager Sionze Inzaghi and now this.

23:00 CET - Fluminense make it two! After soaking up a huge amount of pressure, they win a throw on the break and the ball ends up with Hercules, who seals the win with a lovely finish!

The Brazilian side are going through to the last eight!

22:51 CET - Inter are finally looking dangerous, but is it too little, too late? They have five minutes plus stoppage time to stay alive.

22:38 CET - How are Inter not level?! Stefan de Vrij somehow pokes wide with the goal gaping!

The Nerazzurri are running out of time.

22:20 CET - 10 minutes into the second half and Inter have had just one further effort on goal. They don't look likely to turn things around right now.

21:54 CET - We have an upset on our hands, with Fluminense leading Inter 1-0 at the break. The underdogs were so nearly 2-0 up too, having a goal disallowed for offside just before half-time.

Can Inter step things up and save their Club World Cup?

18:12 CET - We're just under three hours away from Inter's clash with Fluminense, and it's one that the Italian side is expected to win.

They may have lost Simone Inzaghi, but they've hit the ground running under former Inter player and new manager Christian Chivu, who has stuck with Inzaghi's 3-5-2 but has implemented a slightly more aggressive approach.

Fluminense are no pushovers, though; Colombian winger John Arias has been especially impressive, and Thiago Silva remains a top player.
